Blog > The Hare and The Hound ~ Great Irish Pub in Putnam Connecticut
Last weekend I had the pleasure of previewing a home with my husband on Sunday afternoon. We had dropped off the kids and had a rare Sunday together, alone. We decided to check out what local brunch options were out there and came across The Hare & The Hound in Putnam, CT. Putnam is only a 30-minute ride from us, give or take, so it wasn’t too far.
The Irish-style pub was conveniently located in downtown Putnam close to other great places to eat and shop. It’s only a few minutes off of Interstate 395. The atmosphere had a really cool vibe and the waitstaff was super friendly. I loved the cool cups they had for water at the table and the homemade kettle chips they started us off with, complimentary. All that being said, the best was yet to come…..
THE FOOD WAS AMAZINGGGGGG! I spent a good portion of my life living in the south so I am biscuits and gravy kind of girl. I was delighted to see a menu item called The Hounds Biscuits which was described as buttermilk biscuits, peppered sausage gravy, scallions, scrambled eggs with smashed fried potatoes. It was a no-brainer for me. My husband ordered the Buffalo Mother Clucker which was a deep-fried buffalo chicken sandwich with pickle chips. Both were absolutely spot on.
Another cool thing to note, they have flavored mimosas…SO many flavors! I tried the mango jalapeno since I have to get any drink with jalapeno in the name…haha It was delish! Definitely check them out if you find yourself in the Putnam area and if you’re not, it’s worth the drive!
