Our New Home Addition Project...COMPLETE!

THAT’S A WRAP! 5 Months of construction has finallyyyyyyyy come to an end! I cannot say enough GREAT things about our general contractor Paul Macharia and his crew. JK MARCH Construction, LLC came in here and worked during what I would consider the TOUGHEST time of year to be in construction! They braved the elements and built our dream addition including a 2 car attached garage, mudroom, and a full DREAM master suite! I had a vision and some question marks that Paul helped me fill in along the way. He referred Michael Rannikko to us to help with the drawings that would outline the entire project. Once we knew what we wanted, Paul helped us (during the toughest time in our lifetime) order lumber, windows, siding, doors, and everything else we would need to complete this project. Knowing I was in real estate and have great contacts, Paul was flexible and let us pick some of our own subcontractors to do things like excavating, electrical, and plumbing.

For the excavating, we used Richard Chaffee. He came in quickly after the first person we had lined up ghosted us for a month. He did great work and had it ready for concrete in no time! For the foundation work, we used Fran Brindley from Oxford. He was also quick and amazing! Great prices! Lastly, we used Heath Grimes for the garage floor. Nothing but great things to say about all of them!

For the electrical, I knew I would undoubtedly be using Jeffrey Choquet Electrician I trust and refer him to all of my clients and anyone I know looking for a great electrician. Jeff was always on top of everything and although does not have the glamourous part of the job, he was definitely one of our favorites showing up without being asked and triple-checking his own work to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for us. Bonus points….he did not judge us too harshly when he found my teenager still sleeping during remote school in his room late one morning….haha! Oh, and my 3-year-old was telling him he loved him by the end of it all.

For all of our plumbing, heating, and cooling, I chose Anthony ComeauThe Boiler KING. Tony and I go wayyyyyy back to my adult softball playing years. He’s who I always trust and recommend to clients looking for any kind of heating and plumbing work. We contracted Tony to add a mini-split in the addition and to do all of the work on our new master bath. Tony and his crew came in and did great work, gave great prices, and for bonus points they were great with the babies & baby gates! Tony did not stop until he knew everything was working as it should and made sure we had nothing leaking which we really appreciate!!!

Paul’s crew did all of the framing, insulation, sheetrock, siding, roofing, windows, doors, tile work, hardwoods, trim, and almost every other little thing you can think of! My husband, Tony, and I ended up with half of the “plaster” work to finish and we did the painting ourselves.

Last, but not least, we hired Larry from Charlton for our garage doors. Larry and his son were awesome and even came back for several hours of work to fix some wires that got disconnected during construction. We priced around and they beat EVERYBODY by far! I will always recommend Larry and his son to anyone looking to get new garage doors and openers installed.

We learned so much throughout this entire process. It was EXHAUSTING, but the end result is SO worth it! We have our “getaway” space now to relax and recharge for the many hats we wear each day chasing 6 kids and running a business. THANK YOU from the bottom of our hearts to everyone that helped with this in some way or another! You truly made our dreams a reality and we will be forever grateful for your hard work! The only thing we are waiting on is the glass for the shower. They are on a 5-6 week wait time right now but will come at the end of May, that’ll be installed and I’ll post some updated pics. If anyone is looking to get anything done and needs some recommendations, I’d be happy to share my personal experience with any of these guys. They are THE BEST!!
